Story
The Marvel universe is being torn apart. You and your team of Marvel super heroes help Nick Fury launch a secret pre-emptive strike against Latveria and Lucia Von Bardas only to have to thwart her retalitaory attack on New York City.

Coupled with other super hero incidents, public sentiment turns against super heroes. The Superhuman Registration Act becomes law and super heroes must register as weapons of mass destruction, and become licensed government agents with the United States government. Lines are drawn as Iron Man leads the pro-registration faction, while Captain America spearheads the stand on anti-registration. You must pick a side and fight to determine the fate of the universe and humankind. So, whose side are you on.

Playable Characters
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 will feature a wide array of playable heroes and villains, some of which are available from the beginning of the game, while others will need to be unlocked. Although the final list was not available at publishing time, some of the faces from the Marvel universe that players can count on seeing include: Daredevil, Green Goblin, Human Torch, Invisible Woman, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, Luke Cage, Mr. Fantastic, Deadpool, Juggernaut, Thing, Spider-Man, Storm, Songbird, Thor, Iron Fist, Wolverine, Venom and Gambit.

Gameplay
As with the original Marvel Ultimate Alliance, the new version of the game is an action RPG in which players create their own fighting team made up of four super heroes/villains. The makeup of teams can be changed as the player chooses, and characters can be leveled up as they gain experience and the game progresses. In addition, the separate powers of super heroes can be combined, or "fused," resulting in unique abilities that are devastating in combat. The game contains over 250 of these fused powers that only await the right combination in battle to be released.

user comment Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 It's a Wii... don't complain about graphics

Reviewer: R. Buona,
I think this game was really a lot of fun, and let's be honest, there aren't a lot of games out there that let you play with characters in the Marvel Universe. While it may not be the greatest game when it comes to graphics, it is a Wii, so you can't compare it to PS3 or XBox 360.

The story line is sound, the characters available are great, and the game play is fun. If you are a Marvel fan, especially an X-Men fan like me, this is your only chance to play as Gambit or Cyclops, so pick up a copy and enjoy!

This review may appear late in relation to the game's release date. After all, I received the game as a Christmas gift... and what an awesome gift it was!!! If you are not a fan, or not a current follower, of Marvel Comics then I strongly urge you to read no further and to not buy the game. You may be confused and disappointed. For those who are- this game is for you!

The game is directly based off of the Marvel Comics series "Civil War", in which the Marvel Universe is split in two over the forced registration of all mutants (non-heroic and the like). This puts X-man against X-man, brother against sister, even villians against villians. For those of you familiar with the comic book series, the game follows the storyline beat for beat. If feels as if you are playing the very pages from the comic. There are scenes in the video game that are taken right out of the story. The game designers did a fantastic job re-creating the pages and allowing the fans to play them out in the game.

This is one reason I gave the game 5 stars- game play. It gives the fans the opportunity to experience something we've all dreamed about- playing the characters from an epic storyline and feel the action for themselves. As I mentioned before it follows the comic book mini-series to a "T" and the graphics are amazing! The cut scenes and in-game play are flawlessly integrated. There are some improved issues with the camera angles and I didn't feel so claustrophobic while playing like I did in the first one. However, like the first Marvel Alliance, players can be confused which is which when playing multi-player during epic battle scenes. Other than that, it is great.

Another reason it gets a 5 star is for the graphics. They are stunning, and so is the character design. Granted the playable characters are limited, the ones that are playable definitely make up for it. People have complained about the limit of playable characters, but don't be fooled. The game is awesome and the ones you do play don't disappoint.

I hope this review has helped. Like I said, this game is meant for the die hard Marvel fans, but your avid comic book reader shouldn't be let down either.

I had bought this game as a gift to myself for Christmas... and haven't been able to put it down since then. For me, there is a lot of replay value with the game - especially when I'm the kind of person who wants to unlock everything and complete all achievements/maps/etc. Too bad the download content has been taken off the PlayStation Network, I was hoping they would put it back on for sale... but it looks like they won't be. And I really wanted to be able to play Cable and Magneto, too. Bummer. But, it doesn't stop me from playing still! Great game for me, personally.

This game is very fun to play and relatively easy. You can play with up to eight others I believe and I really enjoy that option as it is a good game to play with friends.

My son is a Marvel Hero fan and he loves all the choices of characters, of course we have to use the codes but either way it is a lot of fun. Very accurate characters and their special moves.
