Product Description

Left 4 Dead: Game of the Year Edition for X360 offers all the content of the original plus all the content coming in the "L4D Survival Pack." The Left 4 Dead Survival Pack is a collection of new content for 2008's Multiplayer Game of the Year. Headlining the pack is the new 1 to 4 person game mode Survival that challenges players and teams to "survive" unremitting swarms of zombies on over 10 maps. Rounds are scored by length of survival and times will be uploaded to leader boards. Also included in the Survival Pack are two additional Versus campaigns. Each campaign features 5 maps for additional play of the four-on-four multiplayer game that allows players to compete as Boss zombies Versus the human Survivors. Left 4 Dead is a survival action game from Valve that blends the social entertainment experience of multiplayer games such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress with the dramatic narrative experience made popular in single player action game classics such as the Half-Life series of games. Set in the immediate aftermath of the long-awaited zombie apocalypse L4D's single player and co-op game modes are played out across four sprawling "Movies" set in a variety of urban and rural environments. Each "Movie" has an over-riding team objective is comprised of five large maps and may be played by 1 to 4 human players. New technology dubbed "the AI Director" is used to procedurally generate a different experience each time the game is played. Just as in Hollywood films the Director calls for new monsters sounds and action as it tailors the gameplay experience based upon the team's performance. In Left 4 Dead's Vs. Mode players may play as a Survivor or as one of four types of "Boss Infected." Each of the "Boss Infected" possesses an exceptional mutant ability - such as a 50-foot tongue lasso (Smoker) or a giant belly full of explosive methane gas (Boomer) - instead of traditional firearms.

For starters people might turn down Left 4 Dead considering it runs on the Source Engine which is not Unreal Engine standards but the game looks great. The lighting, scenery, and blood all look very realistic and stunning. One thing that bothered me was the textures on some rocks. But you'll rarely notice them to care. The controls could be better but for most first person shooter fans, I'd say go with Config 4. The game contains 4 campaign levels each with 5 sections. These can be played in single player and over xbox live as well as offline split screen with two players. In addition to the campaign there is Versus mode and Survival mode which comes with Game of The Year. In Versus one team is the infected and the other are the survivors. In Versus you play through the campaign levels switching teams at each safe house. It offers fresh gameplay with constant suprises. Say you're in the forest and an enemy smoker grabs you and pulls you away and no one knows where you are. Lets say if that happens, your dead. Overall Left 4 Dead is a great experience and I would reccomend it to anyone who owns an Xbox 360

Great multiplayer game, offline is kinda boring so if u have no xbl, i would not suggest this, goty edition comes with survival dlc but its free over xbl anyways so if u just buy the reg. edition instead of this you can save yourself some money and just download the dlc free from xbl.

Left 4 Dead is an amazingly fun game. I have the standard edition and just downloaded the extra content from Xbox Live. I don't think you need Xbox live to enjoy this game; the A.I. players are fun also. Personally, I've never been into FPS games, but I can play this game for hours. Thumbs up.

This game is very fun. It does only have 4 maps but they way it is never the same is great. Also if you system link or play with friends you know it is all that much better. I don't recommend playing with people you don't know very often because some people just get stupid and start shooting you for no reason or leave you behind. But I recommend this to any Zombie or FPS fans out there.
user comment Left 4 Dead Game of the Year Edition I don't buy many games, this is a must-have

I hesitated to but this because I thought it would be a redundant shoot-em-up type that gets old (short of killing zombies). Instead I found it to be a challenging evolving game as the designers keep action from being systematic. Whether its the locations of weapons or how many/where do zombies appear, each playthrough is different.
I do have to admit the xbox gold/live membership makes the game even more fun in versus mode. I mean, killing zombies is fun, but BEING a zombie killing humans is pretty great too.
